After living in the Deep South for over 30 years, Donna Sanders moved 1,200 miles away to Pennsylvania, where Southern Gaze Studios was born amidst the loneliness and homesickness induced by COVID. Initially, it served as a creative outlet, but soon the art gained popularity, and more and more people wanted a piece of their own.
The Wounded Warriors of Pennsylvania reached out for a few guitars to be painted for charity, and Donna kept pushing herself, learning new skills and techniques along the way. As a self-taught artist, she figured out innovative ways to achieve her vision—adapting and overcoming challenges.
Having always dreamed of owning her own food truck, an idea began to take shape: produce and sell art to fund it. And thus, her journey truly began. A couple of years, hundreds of paintings, several festivals, and a lot of face painting later, Southern Comfort Food has a pop-up camper being converted into a food truck! It’s a slow process, but progress is being made, and the dream is coming to life.
